Description

As a clerical support clerk on our claims payment processing team your role will be key to ensuring our department runs efficiently. Your primary focus will be processing incoming check and payment requests, sorting and distributing return check mailings, and assisting with general insurance claim administrative tasks. You will have the opportunity to work in an imaging system to upload payment documentation and assign to claim files. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to learn and grow, this role might be a perfect match!

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interacts by phone and mail with multiple internal and external contacts such as customers, vendors, medical providers, attorneys (plaintiff and defendant), law enforcement agencies, etc.
  • Screens and directs telephone calls.
  • Maintains and updates office supplies.
  • Operates and maintains office equipment such as fax, printing and copying machines.
  • Coordinates office shredding with vendor.
  • Conducts document maintenance – creates, retrieves and delivers files, and copies documents.
  • May compose routine correspondence.
  • Receives and directs visitors; and may resolve routine inquiries.
  • Opens, sorts and distributes mail (including USPS, FedEx and other delivery companies).
  • Other various support duties (may set up meetings, may coordinate record retention, etc.)
  • May be asked to other duties as needed not represented on this list including additional searches, researching, and reporting as requested by leadership.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent or higher.

Preferred Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Prior experience delivering high quality customer service
  • Experience in the insurance industry a plus
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Adaptable to change
  • Able to multi-task, managing multiple priorities
